Laboconnect is based on a classic web architecture of user session type, with a unique JSESSIONID cookie per browser tab and a PERSISTID cookie covering the entire domain. Understanding this mechanism helps anticipate recurring connection issues, especially when the same browser manages multiple accounts or when the session expires unexpectedly.

Session cookies and technical management of the Laboconnect account

Two cookies control the operation of the platform. The JSESSIONID, created with each session opening, is specific to the browser tab and does not store any personal data. The PERSISTID, on the other hand, persists across the entire laboconnect.com domain regardless of the active session.

A third cookie, LCAcceptCookieAna, records the choice regarding analytical cookies. Its retention period is six months, after which the consent banner reappears.

In practice, if you share a computer with another household member, each person should open a separate tab or, better yet, use a separate browser profile. Since the JSESSIONID is unique per tab, two accounts opened simultaneously in the same browser profile can cause session conflicts, with a risk of cross-display of data.

For patients who wish to delve deeper into the functioning of the portal and its interactions with the care pathway, it is possible to access the Mon Coach Douleur site which details the steps for registration and follow-up of examinations.

Separation of Laboconnect accounts linked to the same email address

A common issue arises: two patients (spouses, parent and adult child) whose results are linked to a single email address. Laboconnect does not natively manage multi-profile on the same identifier. The separation procedure involves three specific steps.

  • Report the situation to the laboratory secretary during the next visit, so that the administrative file can be updated on the server side.
  • Create a new account on laboconnect.com/public/home with a different email address, following the standard registration process.
  • Contact the laboratory to request the transfer of the activation code to the new account, as the activation code cannot be generated by the patient alone.

Without this last step, the new account remains empty. The laboratory is the only entity that can link a biological file to a Laboconnect identifier. We find that this constraint is rarely documented on the laboratories’ own portals.

Laboconnect and My Health Space: two tools not to be confused

Laboconnect is not My Health Space. Confusion often arises among patients who think they can find all their analyses on a single portal. My Health Space is a public service that centralizes a shared medical file and secure messaging. Test results may appear there, but only when they are transmitted by the laboratory or healthcare professional.

In other words, a result visible on Laboconnect does not necessarily appear in My Health Space, and vice versa. A document absent from the shared medical file does not mean that the examination was not performed. The content depends exclusively on the documents actually submitted.

When to use one rather than the other

Laboconnect remains the fastest channel to consult a report as soon as it is biologically validated. My Health Space serves to centralize results from different laboratories and to share them with other professionals within the framework of a coordinated care pathway.

For longitudinal follow-up (chronic pathology, regular assessments), combining the two tools makes sense. The first provides immediate access, while the second serves as the shareable reference archive.

Data security on the Laboconnect platform

The site conditions access to secure parts on the entry of an identifier and password, with the possibility to configure secret questions for access recovery.

Account settings (personal data, password, email address) are managed from the user space. Changing the email address associated with the account does not automatically transfer the history of results to another user. The linkage remains tied to the biological file on the laboratory side.

Limits of online consultation

A test result is understood in its clinical context. Laboconnect provides the raw report, but the interpretation is the responsibility of the prescribing physician. An abnormal value on a blood test can be perfectly normal depending on the patient’s profile, ongoing treatment, or time of the sample.

Patients who receive a notification of available results benefit from waiting for medical advice before modifying treatment or becoming alarmed. The platform facilitates access, not diagnosis.

Resolving common access issues to Laboconnect

Three situations regularly arise, each with an identifiable technical cause.

  • The activation code does not arrive by email: check spam and junk mail folders, then contact the laboratory which can resend the code or generate a new one.
  • The session expires too quickly: the JSESSIONID has a limited duration. A browser configured to delete cookies upon closing forces a systematic reconnection. Adjusting the cookie retention settings for the laboconnect.com domain resolves the issue.
  • Results of a relative appear on your account: this is a sign of a shared account that has not been separated. The separation procedure described above applies.

Direct contact with the laboratory remains the primary recourse for any technical blockage. Laboconnect does not offer centralized user support: each laboratory manages its own access and its own patient files.

The platform serves a specific function in the digital health ecosystem: providing quick and secure access to biological reports. It does not replace My Health Space for archiving, nor the dialogue with the prescriber for interpretation. Keeping this distinction in mind avoids most frustrations related to its use.
